Lily Bertram and Kay Fly Fishing Lodge From time to time we like to introduce you to some of the amazing women in flyfishing. Meet Lily Bertram! Lily grew up in western North Carolina and when she had the chance to work for a friend of her Aunt’s in Punta Allen she jumped at it. She spent three seasons working at Cuzan Guest House for Sonja and Armando. She then became the lodge manager full time and Punta Allen became her permanent home.
Cuzan offered flyfishing trips and other Mexican adventures. Lily had never fished before and wanted to learn and Jose Ucan (who grew up in Punta Allen) was guiding for the lodge. In their ‘down time’ over those first few seasons Jose taught Lily to fly-fish. When she returned to the lodge to manage full time, Jose and Lily began dating and are now married and partners in Kay Fly Fishing Lodge.
Lily managed Cuzan from the same location until 2012 when La Pesacadora was being built. They moved into La Pescadora in 2013 and Lily continued as lodge manager and Jose the head guide through February 2021. In November of 2021 they moved into their own building as Kay Fly Fishing Lodge and Lily and Jose own and operate their own business today. Read the rest of tbe blog on the website:

Bahamas! Mangrove Cay Club, March 1-7, 2023 -More space has been added! The flats surrounding Andros Island are some of the best bonefishing in the world. The fish are plentiful and average 3 to 5 pounds with regular appearances of 6 to 10 pound fish. Several 11, 12 and 13 pound fish are landed every season. In fact, some of the largest fish have been taken within sight of the lodge. You’ll have plenty of shots whether you are new to saltwater or an expert. Beginners will be able to land their first bone and chase the big ones! Advanced anglers can target the big bones you won't find in other destinations. Regardless, if you have not fished the Bahamas, it is something that should be on your bucket list. Landing these big bonefish is truly next level! If you don't get enough fishing in on the flats during the day, further adventure awaits from the dock at the lodge. Shark visit the area frequently (encouraged by a bit of chumming from the lodge). Bulls, blacktip, lemon and nurse sharks frequently cruise by. The lodge will have spinning gear ready for some evening entertainment with sharks or other species if you are so inclined. You can also relax on the edge of the water or by the pool with your beverage and take in the ocean breezes and views. We have a fantastic group of ladies signed up for this trip -most of whom have participated in Finatical Flyfishing trips and events previously. All levels of anglers are welcome. As this group is filling right up we added a couple of more spots. Join us to meet a wonderful group and have a great time 'on the salt'!

Henry's Fork 2022 Trip Report (2023 will be July 14-18) The Henry's Fork is a legendary river and it is known to be tough fishing. These ladies came in got it done! They all landed fish between 18-20" over the course of the trip. We covered the entire region and had a blast experiencing different waters and styles of fishing. "The Ranch" (in Island Park, Idaho) offers slow, technical water that will test your patience and your casting ability. Anglers come to the ranch from all over the world every summer for the chance to experience the dry fly fishing and enjoy its beauty. "Box Canyon" is much faster water, often fished with nymphs and streamers. There are many sections to the lower river and generally speaking it is somewhere in the middle -also offering some aggressive browns! Next our group hit a fun section above Mcrae's bridge and the Madison river just over the boarder in Montana! WOW -so many fish to chase... 2023 dates are also July 14-18. Those are already filling up!
