Your Patagonia fishing trip will begin at El Encuentro lodge on the banks of the Rio Futaleufu (also referred to as the Rio Grande) situated at the base of the Andes. Anglers will have their choice to float the big waters of the Futaleufu that hold healthy rainbow and brown trout, or they may walk wade streams, spring creeks and private lakes in the area. There is also fishing just out the backdoor of the lodge, and anglers returning from a day of fishing can take advantage of the late evening hatch. El Encuentro guides know all the various side channels and the locations of deep pools that hold fish; they know where to encourage guests to wade fish and how to best reach large browns under hidden banks.
The El Encuentro lodge has been owned and operated by the Beale family for more than 30 years. We’ll experience Argentine culture with local wines offered daily at lunch and dinner, lamb and beef from local family markets, organic vegetables from their gardens and eggs from their own chickens. We’ll savor the authentic flavors of a traditional ‘Asado’ (Argentine BBQ) on the banks of the lovely Rio Futaleufu.
After fishing four days from the main lodge we will fish our way down to ‘Brook Trout Base Camp’ on the banks of the Rio Corcovado. There we can enjoy three nights of ’glamping’ in tents modeled after traditional African Safari camps. Each tent has two beds with linens, heaters for cool nights, and electric lights. Hot showers and flushing toilets make glamping very comfortable. We have two full days to explore this remote area with our guides. Cast into the beautiful pools of the Rio Corcovado or from the wild shores of Lago Vintter for large rainbows. Stalk trophy brook trout in the nearby Engano basin or sample private spring creeks or lakes for rainbow and browns in the Rio Pico area. Patagonia is famous for its very productive lakes that offer trophy trout. Throwing a damselfly out to entice these large fish makes for exciting takes and hook-ups!

Patty Reilly & Argentina
We’re honored to co-host this trip with Patty Reilly. Patty has built a resume that is arguably one of the most impressive in the industry. She’s been guiding for 35 years in addition to teaching fishing schools, and she built her international outfitting and consulting business in the process. Her guiding included time on her home waters (Jackson Hole, WY) beginning in the late 70’s. She then moved on to guide in Alaska, Montana, the South Fork of Snake in Idaho, steelhead guiding on the North Umpqua, and the Grande Ronde rivers in Oregon- to name just a few places. She then went to Patagonia!
Patty and a fishing cohort were the leading outfitters to begin commercial trips in the Bariloche region of Argentina by obtaining the first issued commercial river running licenses in that country. Having fallen for Patagonia in a big way, Patty spent over a decade guiding there and has explored and fished much of Argentina and Chile.

We are co-hosting this event with Idaho Angler in Boise, Idaho. March 31st will include wine and Sushi/appetizers at Idaho Angler. This class filled quickly but we have a waiting list and are considering additional dates. Please let us know if you are interested in future classes.

Green River, Wyoming

Come and fish the legendary Green River near Pinedale, Wyoming with us! This area is one of the best-kept secrets around. Huge browns and rainbows hide in these waters and this time of year they are taking the food in. Golden Stones, Salmon Fly's, PMD’s, and Gray Drakes! There are plenty of moose, deer, and great bird watching as you float each day. You’ll find a ton of fish 16”-20” and the 20”+ fish are not unusual on the Green. This is prime time to be on this stretch of river!
Your package includes four nights at the Hampton Inn with views of the Wind River range in the distance and three days of guided fishing. Arrive in Pinedale in time for dinner with the group on the 23rd. We will have the recent fishing reports in hand and fishy plans to share with you for the next day.
